The reliefs formed part of the spolia decoration of a late antique nymphaeum that was built in front of this façade in the fifth century AD. They clearly came from the same ensemble as another series of reliefs that were discovered in 1904, also re-used in a late antique fountain, and are now in the Archaeological Museum in Istanbul. These reliefs are also included in this study. Emphasis is placed on the iconography and local meaning of mythological scenes from the Hellenistic repertoire in a Greek city of the Roman Empire.
