; This paper is a preliminary presentation of data collected at the occasion of an archaeological rescue excavation conducted into the Chassean site of ZAC Saint-Antoine II at Saint-Aunès (Hérault) during spring 2009. The features are numerous (302 in total) and distributed over two excavation areas comprised of 6100 and 8600 m². These different traces belong to an unfortified settlement. The study of the pottery productions has permitted to define five occupational stages that can be correlated rather well with the evolution of the lithic industries. This phasing is confirmed by radiocarbon dates. The occupations are dated to the Pre-Chassean in area 1 (between 4300 and 4200 cal. BC) and they develop diachronically from the Early Chassean to the Late Chassean in area 2 (between 4200 and 3800 cal. BC). As it is the case in many Chassean settlements in Southern France, funerary activity is attested through the presence of 18 burials. Equally, information related to food producing and consuming economy is worth mentioning.. Item type: Extrait
